Strength & Nutrition Coaching
Who I Am
Hi, I’m Shira! I’m a certified strength and nutrition coach based out of sunny SoCal and serving clients worldwide (I currently train clients in 7 different states and 2 countries!)
I’m also a professional dancer with 10 years under my belt. When I’m not dancing, training or nerding out about behavioral psychology, gut health, or biomechanics, you can probably find me at a concert, on a walk in my Tevas, or reading a new book.
What I Do
Yes, I will write you a killer program, give you expert cueing, and help you tackle emotional eating, but what sets me apart as a coach are my EQ and empathy.
It’s called personal training for a reason. I can give you the “best” program in the whole world, but if you’re not willing or able to do it consistently for the long-term, it won’t matter. You’re not a robot or a rat in a lab - you’re a human being with thoughts, feelings, opinions, work, and relationships. My super power is making sure you feel heard, I understand YOUR unique goals, and I meet you where you’re at.
I hope you like long-term relationships, because we don’t do quick fixes here baby ;). Whether we’re working through a chronic injury or rebuilding their relationship with food, my clients know we are creating a long-term solution.
My Why
I grew up shy and unathletic - I ran an 11-minute mile and had a drawer stuffed with participation ribbons. While I loved dance, I was constantly derailed by injuries, including multiple ankle sprains. I tried everything - rest, ice, compression, elevation, bracing, taping, imaging, massage, and physical therapy; but my pain always came back. On top of this, I was taught to eat 1300 calories, use carrots and a handful of nuts as fuel for 5-hour dance rehearsals, and never lift anything heavier than 5lb, for fear that I might “bulk up”. No matter how hard I tried, I still had terrible body image and was chronically injured.
Strength training changed my entire life. I got stronger, I finally looked lean and toned, I stopped getting injured as often, AND I was eating more food in the process!
I’ve watched so many of my peers leave the industry due to injuries, surgeries, and malnutrition - I know that the way I train and the way I fuel my body are the secrets to my longevity in this demanding profession.
It’s my life mission to help others feel the same confidence and peace in their bodies and brains.
Welcome - I’m so happy you’re here :)

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This isn’t physical therapy, this is StrengthCare. I don’t diagnose anyone I work with, and more often than not, they do not require a diagnosis to heal, get stronger and move better. I also do not use any manual therapy or other passive modalities. Everything we do together involves good ole fashioned hard work :).

The minimum amount of equipment you’ll need to begin working with me are a mat, a yoga block, a bench, and a set of superbands. However, you’ll quickly outgrow that and you’ll want to have access to a more robust gym set-up (at least dumbbells and/or kettlebells up to 50lb in addition to your other equipment).

No. As a nutrition coach, it is not within my scope of practice to provide meal plans. Additionally, I want to teach you “how to fish” - I don’t want you to need me forever. All my clients learn how to eat sustainably using foods that they like to eat and that help them to achieve their goals.
